Winter Storm Octavia Headed For Great Smoky Mountains

Winter Storm Octavia Heading to the Great Smoky Mountains

Winter Storm Octavia is making her way toward East Tennessee and North Carolina. The Great Smoky Mountains are forecast to get several inches of snow with this latest winter storm. But not only is snow in the forecast but possible sleet and freezing rain with significant accumulation possible. This means broken tree limbs, downed trees, downed power lines and power outages. The storm is expected to reach the Great Smoky Mountains tonight. Below average cold temperatures will remain in effect for the rest of the week. So whatever falls will stay around for several days.

Stay up to date on the changing weather and news. Buy those needed supplies now and try to stay off the roads as much as possible. Sleet and freezing rain make road conditions treacherous especially in the mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park will close many roads as the winter weather approaches. If you have to get out in the storm be prepared and take extra supplies with you. Gas up the car. We gloves, hats, scarves, and boots for any outdoor activities.
