Winter Weather Warning!

The Great Smoky Mountains is under a Winter Weather Warning for this weekend. If you are headed to the GSMNP this weekend to view the fall foliage you will get an extra surprise – snow! The highest elevations some weather forecaster are reporting may get 6-8 inches of snow for this first weekend in November! Make sure you are prepared before you head to the mountains! Fall foliage and snow will make for some beautiful pictures. Unusual combo for the Great Smoky Mountains!

Leaf Peepers Flocking to Great Smoky Mountains

All the rain in the Great Smoky Mountains and leaf peepers are still traveling to the Great Smokies to see the fall foliage. There are reports of heavy traffic in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg with all the people trying to get a look at the changing leaves in the mountains. October is the second busiest month for the area. October is a good month for area businesses, especially  hotels, rental cabins, shops and restaurants. Last year when the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was closed for half of the month of October it was a huge blow to the area….

Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Fall Excursion

Take a ride through the mountains of North Carolina to see the spectacular mountain fall foliage show from a railroad car!. The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad is the  way to go to tour the colorful North Carolina mountains in the fall. Guided Hike in Cataloochee Valley

Join Danny Bernstein for a guided hike on Pretty Hollow Gap Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains in the Cataloochee Valley on October 14, 2014. Take a Trip and Hit the Road This Weekend!

Take a trip this weekend. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is open. The sun is going to be out all day Sunday- first time in 2 weeks! Pack the bags, grab the kids, grab the dog, and hit the road. The visitors centers are open, the picnic areas, the campground, even the bathrooms are open! Just get out there this weekend and enjoy it all. The fall foliage show is here and beautiful. Enjoy this weekend and be safe!

Great Smoky Mountains Fall Foliage 2013 Report Update

The  Great Smoky Mountains fall foliage 2013 show is happening now. At the 5,000 ft elevation and higher the fall foliage colors are peaking. During the next 2 weeks the color show will spread down to the lower elevations. Peak colors are expected the weekend of October 18-20 in the GSM. By late October peak will be over in the highest elevations with color still in the lower elevations but past peak.

Blount County TN Residents Tired of Government Shutdown

Blount County TN residents are feed up with the government shutdown. Almost 1/3 of the county is inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With the shutdown the county lost its main source of revenue. October is one of the busiest times of the year due to the fall foliage season. The area has lost access to the park for fishing, camping, hiking, horse-back riding, and driving the back roads to enjoy the colorful scenery this time of year.
