Cades Cove Fall Foliage Trip Report

Cades Cove Fall Foliage Trip Report With Pictures!

Here is our Cades Cove fall foliage trip report from October, 15, 2015. Took a ride through Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park today. Saw some fall foliage colors in the mountains tops as we rode thru the 11 mile loop road of Cades Cove. It was crowded with lots of cars and many visitors at the Cades Cove Visitors Center and in the picnic areas. The fall foliage colors where a little disappointing. I thought for the middle of October there would be more color. I did get some pictures of a black bear in one of the fields in Cades Cove! Maybe the fall colors were  disappointing but seeing the bear was fun! Did not see any deer which is unusual. I have counted more than 30 deer on one trip once. Traffic was backed up for quite a while with everyone stopping to take a good look at the bear. She was just slowly walking around in the field for quite some time. All the onlookers did not bother her at all!

There is a cold front moving through East Tennessee tonight bringing much colder temperatures. There is also a frost warning for this weekend. This should really speed up the color changes in the coming days for the Great Smoky Mountains. The Clingmans Dome area in the highest elevations have already lost their leaves but there is color in the lower elevations.

Here are some of the pictures from our Cades Cove fall foliage trip today.
