Chimney Tops Trail Project Update

Chimney Tops Trail will remain closed Monday through Thursday until December of this year. The popular trail is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays now. The trail has been undergoing rehabilitation by workers and volunteers for about 3 years, but recent rains have caused damage that has set the project back. Improvements to the Chimney Rocks Trail include placement of stone step making the trail easier to navigate. Fall Foliage 2014 Show Has Begun!

Fall foliage 2014 color changes have been noticed by experts already this year in the mountains in the highest elevations. Colors of red have already been noted in some red maples and sugar maple trees at the highest elevations in the mountains. This may be due to the cooler and sunny weather of the past month of August.
